Steps to become a CIW
The 4 main steps in getting a CIW certification are:
Step 1 : Choose a job role
Step 2 : Taking the required classes
Step 3 : Prepare for the certification exams
Step 4 : Take and pass certification exams
Step 5 : CIW Certificate
Step 1 : Choosing Job Roles
There are various options within choosing job roles for a CIW. You will have to pick one role within these options and complete the requirements for the same. These job roles define the knowledge and practical skills required to perform specific industry-recognized job tasks. CIW offers the following job-role certifications for IT professionals:
- CIW Associate
- CIW Professional
- CIW Security Analyst
- CIW Web Developer
- Master CIW Designer
- Master CIW Administrator
- Master CIW Administrator
- Master CIW Enterprise Developer
- Master CIW Web Site Manager
Step 2 : Taking the required classes
There are a number of classes that are required to be taken for each job roles that you select. In this class we will cover the courses that are required for the CIW Associate and CIW Developer roles.
Step 3 : Preparing for Certification Exams
The next step in becoming a CIW certificant is preparing for the exam(s) required for your chosen CIW job-role certification. The student will prepare for the exam by taking all the required classes in his/her track and studying for
the exams.
Step 4 : Taking Certification Exams
The final step in becoming a CIW certificant is taking and passing the exam(s) required for a CIW job-role certification. High-stakes certification exams are generally administered through secure third-party testing centers
such asThomson, Prometric andVUE. These registrations can be made online.
Step 5 : CIW Certificate
You will receive a CIW certificate printed with your name, signed, embossed and suitable for framing approximately six to eight weeks after passing all the exams required for the specified CIW certification.
